Gombe State Governor Inaugurates 17-Member Task Force To Drive Environmental Sustainability

In a major step toward combating environmental degradation, the Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, has inaugurated a 17-member Task Force for the implementation and monitoring of the Gombe Goes Green (3G) Project. 

 

The Task Force, chaired by Mai Tula, Dr. Abubakar Buba Atare II, is expected to spearhead afforestation efforts and address climate-related challenges such as deforestation, desertification, and gully erosion.

 

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Deputy Governor’s Office conference room, Dr. Jatau conveyed Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

 

Dr. Jatau stressed the urgent need for action to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, highlighting that the 3G project is a proactive response to the environmental concerns affecting livelihoods, food security, and infrastructure.

 

Dr. Atare II, in his inaugural address, pledged the Task Force’s dedication to fostering a greener Gombe through afforestation, ecological balance, and job creation.
