Gombe State Governor Tasks Immigration Officers On Security

The Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has tasked Immigration Officers to be thorough in checking the illegal movement of people across borders to checkmate criminal activities in the country.

Speaking when he received the Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration in charge of Zone C, Mr. James Sunday, the Governor said foreigners were mostly alleged to be the culprits behind criminal activities in the Northeast and the country as a whole.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Manassah Dr. Jatau said the immigration service had been an integral part of the security apparatus, especially in checkmating illegal movements across borders and engaging in joint operations in curbing internal security challenges.

He said “Gombe State had been benefiting from the complement roles played by the Comptroller of Immigration, as well as Customs and all other paramilitary outfits in the state for the overall success of securing the state.”

Wooing Foreign Investors

The Gombe State Deputy Governor, however, appealed to the Zone C Immigration Boss to assist the Government in wooing foreign investors into the state, to enhance job creation, revenue generation, and the overall socio-economic development of the state.

He gave the assurances of the Gombe State Government’s continued support for them to succeed in discharging their official responsibilities.

The Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration in charge of Zone C, Mr. James Sunday said he was a son of the soil and as such the official visit to Gombe State was to identify with the Government and people of his State, having risen to the rank of ACG immigration.

He said; “coming to work at home amounted to bringing all his expertise and experiences garnered in the service.”

Mr. Sunday pledged his officers would continue to support the state government to ensure checking and monitoring of all leakages across the borders of the six States. He said they would also ensure the smooth running of affairs so that the people would enjoy security in the state, North East, and Nigeria at large.

The ACG said the Immigration Service was on the ground to ensure the monitoring of activities and movements of non- Nigerians aiding that Nigerians to procure Visas and travel legitimately, as well as assist in tackling internal security problems through participation in joint patrols among others.
