The Gombe State Government has reviewed the 6 pm to 7 am curfew imposed on Jessu and Nyuwar communities of Balanga Local Government Area.

The curfew is now between 6pm and 6am, after attacks on the communities left many people dead about one month ago.

The meeting was held with heads of security agencies, including the military, district heads of Jessu and Nyuwar, as well as prominent sons and daughters of both tribes, to review the strained relations between them and how to renew the loge existing bond between them.

The State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya had issued an Executive Order barely one day after the attacks on Jessu and Nyuwar by suspected Waja Tribe’smen, following protracted attacks and counter attacks between the Lunguda and Waja tribes in the area.

The the Paramount Ruler of the Waja Tribe, the Bala Waja, Alhaji Muhammad Danjuma, who spoke with Journalists after the meeting said it was held specifically to discuss the incident between the two tribes which occurred about one month ago.

His Royal Highness Alhaji Danjuma said at the end of the meeting, both tribes agreed to forgive and forget what happened.

“All the sons ad daughters of Waja are here. Those that you think are who and who in Waja and Lunguda attended this meeting. So, all of us have resolved that we have forgiven ourselves and we pray that this thing will not happen again. That is why we were mandated to call the attention of the Waja people and Lunguda people to please come back to our places, let us love one another, let us stay the way we use to stay, let us not allow something to come between us again,” Bala Waja said.

He said both tries gave the Governor the assurances that they would work with him and ensure that the ugly incident would not happen again in the Waja Chiefdom, especially in Jessu and Nyuwar communities

The Waja monarch commended the prompt intervention of Governor Yahaya during the attacks, by going to the communities in the heat of the crisis and despite the dangers lurking,  to see things for himself and to ensure the restoration of peace and normalcy in those places.

He called on residents of the area, who fled their homes to return to the way they were living before as brothers, giving the assurance that no attacks would occur again, especially in the two Lunguda Districts.
