The Gombe State Joint Project Development Council, under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, has approved several key infrastructure projects aimed at improving public utilities and security across Gombe State’s local government areas (LGAs).

These projects are part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance infrastructure, public services, and security in the region.

Key Projects

Kwadon: The council approved the construction of perimeter fencing, solar-powered boreholes, and streetlights at the National Agricultural Land Development Agency (NALDA) Market. An additional 200 solar streetlights will be installed in Yamaltu Deba LGA.

Billiri: The expansion of the Billiri Grains Market fencing project, initially awarded at ₦112,120,688.63, will now cost ₦157,120,688.63 after an additional land portion was identified. Six IP toilets will also be built at the market.

Kumo Town, Akko LGA: The installation of 350 solar streetlights will be done at a cost of ₦740,272,768.50.

Security Measures and Initiatives

The council also addressed ongoing farmer-herder conflicts, announcing the formation of a committee to map cattle routes and grazing reserves.

GOSTEC and Operation Hattara will be integrated with local governments to ensure cohesive security strategies.

Education and Healthcare

The council decided to recruit more qualified teachers to improve educational standards in newly constructed and renovated schools.

Renovations and upgrades of primary healthcare centres across all 11 LGAs will commence, with trained personnel from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) continuing to serve local communities.

Protection of Public Assets

A resolution was passed to prevent the vandalism of public assets, with strict measures in place to safeguard government properties, especially in the education and healthcare sectors.

These approvals demonstrate the council’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, improving public services, and ensuring better security in the region, all in line with Governor Yahaya’s vision for Gombe State.
