The Muslims in Gombe State have celebrated the 2022 Eid al-Fitr after the successful completion of the 30 days Ramadan Fast.
Voice of Nigeria reports that they came out in their various colours of cultural attires to the centre of Gombe city, beginning from the Eid Ground near the Zainab Bulkachuwa Women and Children Hospital, up to the Emir’s Palace at Tudun Wada, Gombe.
At the Emir’s Palace, all districts and village heads under the Gombe Emirate converged on the Emir’s Palace with their entourage, with some on their horsebacks to display their various horse-riding skills, which, once again, like last year, was so colourful to the amazement of the thousands of people that gathered at the Emir’s Palace, especially first-time visitors.
It would be recalled that in 2020, the event could not hold because of the restrictions put in place because of the Covid-19 pandemic, but with its down-ward surge, the pomp and pageantry associated with the Sallah celebration in this part of the world are now fully back.
At the Durbar, the Traditional Ruler, Emir of Gombe and Chairman, Gombe State Emirs and Chiefs, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, was on hand to receive Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the chiefs and other well-wishers at the Mini Durbar.
The Gombe Emir congratulated the people of Gombe state and the entire Muslims in the world for the successful completion of the 30 days fast and the Sallah celebrations.
Abubakar’s Sallah message was centred on the peaceful co-existence of the residents of the emirate, especially between farmers and harders, calling on them to live in peace and sustain the already existing peace in the state.
He urged the people to take lessons from what they learned during the Month of Ramadan and continue with its practice even after Ramadan.
The Emir also commended Governor Muhammad Yahaya for the developmental projects executed in the state, while calling on the people to continue supporting the governor, so that he would continue to execute more projects.
Speaking at the Government House shortly after the Eid al-Fitr Prayer, Governor also Yahaya urged the people to continue in the spirit of Ramadan, by caring for one another and uniting by being their brother’s keepers.
He called for prayers from the people, for God’s protection and guidance in the period between now and the next Ramadan season, so that everyone would live in peace.
