Gombe State: New Commissioner of Police to operate intelligence-based Policing

The new Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, Mr Ishola Babatunde Babaitan, says he will operate an intelligence-based policing system to secure the lives and property of the people and rid the state of all forms of criminalities.

Mr Babaitan told journalists in Gombe that he intended to achieve that through community policing, where good-spirited members of the public would be partners with the police in intelligence gathering.

He believes the information is power and as such a strong collaboration would be established with the members of the society while operating a 24-hour vigilance on the society.

“Before any crime can be committed, you need to be on board through the cooperation and the members of the community and other members of security agency we shall work in close synergy with everybody and carry everybody along to make sure we achieve success,” said CP Babaitan.

He also pledged that under his watch, everyone’s human rights would be protected by ensuring that both the rights of male, female, big or small was never infringed on, achievable through due process of law.

According to the new CP in Gombe State, during his term in office in the state, he will operate zero tolerance for corruption and not allow any police officer, either senior or junior to be involved in any corrupt practices.

He equally promised that the police would be visible across the state, to give the public a sense of security, while calling on criminals to find another abode for the activities, because their activities would not be tolerated.

CP Babaitan said with his background in Criminal Intelligence, he intended to carry out training and retraining of officers on basic, new and evolving crimes, such as cybercrime so that they would be better equipped to tackle such menace.
