The Gombe State Police Command has intensified security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens during the Yuletide celebrations.

A statement by the command said the measure was a proactive approach adopted to prevent criminal activities and maintain relative peace for a hitch-free Christmas Celebration across the State.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in GombeState,  CP Hayatu Usman, during the monthly conference, reiterates the continued ban and enforcement on the sales and use of Fireworks, Knockout, Siren and covering of number plates.

CP Usman said public compliance with the measures was crucial for the overall safety of law-abiding citizens and visitors alike.

He charged various Police officials, including Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Mopol Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, to ensure early deployment of their personnel to strategic locations comprising worship centres and other public places.

The CP also directed the officer in charge of the Motor Traffic Division to ensure early postings of traffic officers across major roads and busy roads for smooth traffic flow, as we apprehend traffic offenders to ensure accident-free celebration.

The Gombe State Police Commissioner also stressed the importance of synergy, while calling on officers to collaborate with other security agencies, community leaders and relevant stakeholders for intelligence gathering and information sharing.

He said this would help in preventing and combatting crime effectively while giving assurances that the command was prepared and committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens during the festive period.

Meanwhile, the Gombe State Police Commissioner urged members of the public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities to the police and cooperate with the Police and other security personnel to create a peaceful and crime-free environment.

The Command is taking proactive measures to enhance security ahead of the Christmas celebration.

“Citizens can trust the command’s readiness to provide adequate and timely deployment of security personnel, guaranteeing a safe and peaceful festive period,” CP Usman said.

He called on parents and guardians to be watchful over their children and wards during the festive period and advised motorists to drive with caution.
