Gombe State: SDP Coalition Meets Stakeholders in Kumo

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Coalition, led by Muhammad Jibrin Dan Barde, former Gubernatorial Candidate under PDP in 2023, has held a stakeholder engagement meeting in Kumo, the headquarters of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The meeting is part of the coalition’s ongoing grassroots consultations across the state aimed at building support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During the event, coalition leaders spoke on the need for inclusive leadership and better governance in Gombe, urging residents to remain politically active and consider the SDP as a credible alternative to the ruling party.

Dan Barde disclosed that the Kumo meeting was one of several meetings and statewide engagements planned by the coalition to build momentum and expand its support base across the 11 LGA of the state.

He explained that the SDP’s renewed engagement strategy was aimed at garnering more members of the opposition in the state to unite in taking over the leadership of the state and restoring public trust, as well as offering a credible alternative to the status quo.

He gave the assurances that the coalition was commited to building a broad-based political movement, anchored on equity and collective aspirations of Gombe citizens.

Meanwhile, the Gombe State Chairman of the SDP, Mr. Modibbo emphasised the need for inclusive governance, political accountability, and a people-driven development agenda in the state and in Nigeria.

Stating that the coalition was aiming to shape the political landscape ahead of 2027 election a d beyond.

Community leaders, youth groups, and women representatives attended the meeting and expressed support for the coalition’s message. Many described the visit as timely, noting growing dissatisfaction with the current political leadership in the state.
