Traditional rulers in the Gombe Central Senatorial District have appealed to all politicians to shun the politics of violence, thuggery, bitterness and divisive tendencies among the political class.

Concerned about the current events in the state, the traditional rulers met in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area and reviewed the issues, because of their position as the closest authority to the people.

They resolved, as custodians of the culture and the tradition of the people, to maintain sacred integrity and remain non-partisan.

The resolutions made at the end of the meeting, which was read by the Emir of Akko, Umar Mohammad Atiku, which they say their resolve was in furtherance and collective pursuit to ensure the overall maintenance of peace, unity, stability and progress of their various communities, Gombe State and the nation as a whole.

The Traditional Rulers in the Gombe Central Senatorial District equally resolved to cultivate more areas of genuine co-operation and the relationship amongst them, while exploring avenues towards maintaining peaceful co-existence among the people.

They also pledge to support Governor Yahaya’s efforts in uplifting the state to greater heights.

“As traditional rulers, we shall continue to support the overall policies and programmes of the administration,” they said.

The traditional rulers also acknowledged and thanked Governor Yahaya for directing and implementing an upward review of their remuneration and welfare.

“As traditional heads of our various communities who are closer to the grassroots, we must commend the state Governor on the way and the manner he handles the issue of Security dispassionately, thus making our roles easier as peace is a necessary prerequisite for development,” they said.
