Gov. Sule lauds Nasarawa State FA for promoting grassroots football

The Nasarawa state government in North-Central Nigeria has commended Football Association (FA) in the state for promoting grassroots football.

The state governor Abdullahi Sule gave the commendation in Lafia at the finals of the Nasarawa State FA Premier League, the governor was represented by Special Adviser on Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Kwanta Yakubu.

Governor Sule said the competition such as the one organized by FA would go a long way toward discovering talents at the grassroots.

He also promised to continue to make youths development the priority of his administration to engage them positively.

Speaking, the Vice Chairman of Nasarawa State FA, Halidu Akwashiki, commended all the 32 football clubs that participated in this edition of the FA Premier League.

Akwashiki said the league was aimed at providing platforms for local players to excel in their football carrier.

He said the quality of football displayed throughout the competition, shun that talents abound in all the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

You have seen the quality of football being played in the finals today between Stallion Football Club (FC) of Nassarawa-Eggon and Pioneers FC of Keffi.

“Stallion FC of Nassarawa-Eggon who are the winners will play in division two professional league while Pioneers FC of Keffi the runners up will play in division three,” the Nasarawa State FA Vice Chairman added.

The Vice-Chairman of FA in the state said this is the fourth edition of the league, therefore, promised that they would sustain it.

He, therefore, appealed to groups and spirited individuals to support FA and invest in grassroots sports in the interest of the overall development of the state.

The competition featured awards to some notable people who contributed and are still contributing to the development of football in the state.

The finals of the league had in attendance FA Chairmen of Kano, Kaduna, Zamfara, Benue, Kogi, Gombe, and the Jigawa States respectively.
