By Jennifer Inah, Abuja
The Nigerian Minister of Industry Trade and Investment Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo has called on members of the Implementation Committee on Nigeria Export Reject to ensure they are properly articulated for the growth and development of the export sub-sector of the economy.
The Minister who made the call during the inauguration of the Implementation Committee on ”Nigeria Agro-Export Reject” in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, urged members of the committee to rededicate themselves in order to accomplish the task ahead.
“It would be recalled that on 16th September 2022, I received the report submitted by members of the Technical Committee on Nigeria Agro-Export Reject with recommendations aimed at addressing the challenges of rejection of our agro-exports at the international market.” Mr. Adebayo said.
“Distinguished members of the Implementation Committee, I want you to consider yourselves fortunate to have been found worthy of this assignment and as such, justify the confidence reposed in you by working as a team to realize the dream of stopping the rejection of our agro-commodities at the international market.”
“It is my belief and expectation that at the end of your assignment, the agricultural subsector of the economy will be on the path to sustainable development, job creation and increased productivity.” He added.
The Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, (NEPC) Mr. Ezra Yakusak who thanked the minister for inaugurating the committee noted that all hands must be on deck to ensure prompt and effective implementation of the committee’s recommendation.
Mr. Yakusak who was represented by the Council’s Director of Product Development, Mrs. Evelyn Obidike, stated that the NEPC has accepted to chair the implementation committee.
“Today’s event is a significant milestone and a seamless implementation of the recommendations of the Technical Committee, will no doubt provide lasting solutions to the numerous challenges bedeviling the development of the non-oil export sub-sector, especially rejection at the international market.” He said.
