Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has sent his heartfelt condolences to the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim, and the family on the death of his wife, Hajia Aminat Dupe.
Hajia Dupe died on Tuesday night after a brief illness.
Her Janazah prayer was held at the National Mosque in Abuja on Wednesday afternoon and buried at Gudu Cemetery.
Governor Abdulrazaq described the incident as shocking and saddening, although he said death is a constant reminder of the transience of our existence as human beings.
“We submit to the will of Allah at all times. We ask Allah, the Eternal, to grant Hajia Aminat Dupe Ibrahim al-Jannah Firdaus and uphold her family upon goodness,” the Governor said.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has expressed sadness over the demise of Hajia Aminat Modupe Ibrahim.
In a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir commiserated with the former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim, and his children over the unfortunate incident.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari described Hajia Modupe’s death as a rude shock, unfortunate and regrettable but in total submission to the Will of Almighty Allah.
He also sent his hearty condolence to the aged mother of the deceased and the entire Ori-Okoh family, consoling them to find solace in the fact that Hajia Modupe lived her life and died as a pious Muslim, supportive wife and loving mother to all.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari therefore prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings, accept her good deeds, and admit her into Al-janatul firdaos.
In a related development, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, sympathised with a former Chief of Defence Staff, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim, on the death of his beloved wife, Hajiya Aminat Modupe Ibrahim.
Hajiya Ibrahim, was also the elder sister of a veteran journalist, Alhaji Muhammad Tunde Akanbi.
In a statement signed by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, the President, on behalf of the Union, pointed out that the death of Hajiya Ibrahim was an unfortunate development.
The statement described Hajiya Ibrahim as an amiable, diligent, and exemplary mother, wife, and indigene of Ilorin Emirate who contributed in no small way to supporting the career of her husband which culminated in his emergence as the first and only Chief of Defence Staff produced by Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State at large.
The Union, according to the statement, implored the retired service chief and others who are bereaved to accept the incident as the wish of Allah and take solace in the fact that the deceased lived an exemplary life worthy of being emulated.
While praying to Allah to grant Admiral Ibrahim and other relations and friends the fortitude to bear the death of Hajiya Ibrahim, Alhaji Abdulmalik also prayed to Allah to overlook the shortcomings of the deceased and reward her good deeds with Aljanat Fridaouz.
The deceased was a Philanthropist and former President of the Naval Officers Wife Association (NOWA) from 2010 to 2012.
