Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has urged the Governor-Elect to ensure his tenure enhances the quest for regional integration and economic transformation of the South-West geo-political zone.
He said this while congratulating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (Senior Advocate of Nigeria), for emerging victorious at the keenly contested governorship election held on Saturday.
Governor Ambode also congratulated Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, the APC and the people of Ondo State for the outcome of the election.
The Governor specially congratulated Akeredolu for his hard fought victory and wished him well as he prepares to take the mantle of leadership of the State.
Governor Ambode further congratulated the Ondo electorate for comporting themselves peacefully throughout the period of the election, while urging those aggrieved with the results to channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters rather than resort to self-help.
Akeredolu was declared winner of the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), defeating his closest rival, Mr Eyitayo Jegede of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with 244,842 to 150,380 votes, while Mr Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) polled 126,889 votes.
