Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law two landmark bills that paved the way for the establishment of a Federal College of Education, Special, in Dukku and a Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri, both located in Gombe State.

Describing the President’s assent as a powerful testament to responsive and inclusive leadership, Governor Yahaya said the move would have a transformative impact on both the education and healthcare sectors in Gombe and the wider North-East region.

On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I sincerely commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this historic gesture. These institutions will not only improve access to quality education and specialist healthcare, but will also generate employment and drive socio-economic development in our state,” Governor Yahaya said.

He also extended his appreciation to the sponsors in the Hoise of Representatives, Honourable Ali Isa J.C. and Honourable Abdullahi El-Rasheed for sponsoring the bills that culminated in the creation of the two federal institutions.

The Gombe State Governor praised their legislative acumen and unwavering commitment to the progress of their constituencies and the state as a whole.

Governor Yahaya acknowledged the vital role played by the leadership and members of the National Assembly in ensuring the successful passage of the bills, and commended all stakeholders whose advocacy and collaboration contributed to making the initiative a reality.

It will be recalled that President Tinubu earlier assented to the College of Education, Special, Establishment Bill 2025, which provides for the founding of a Federal College of Education (Special) in Dukku Local Government Area.

The institution will focus on training educators to support learners with special needs, an area often overlooked in the country’s educational landscape.

The President also signed into law the Public Hospitals Management Board, Amendment Bill 2025, resulting in the establishment of a Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri Local Government Area.

Easing pressure

The hospital is expected to deliver advanced orthopaedic and trauma care, easing pressure on existing medical facilities and serving patients from across the North-East and beyond.

Governor Yahaya stressed that these developments aligned with his administration’s broader strategy to enhance education and healthcare delivery in the state.

He also pledged full support for the effective take-off and operation of both institutions.

This marks a new chapter for Gombe State. The establishment of these federal institutions will complement our efforts at the state level and reinforce Gombe’s standing as a hub for educational and medical excellence.

Governor Yahya appreciated Mr President by reaffirming his commitment to supporting his Renewed Hope agenda.
