Governor Calls For Continued Synergy With Journalists In Nasarawa State

The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has called for a continued synergy with journalists for the state’s development.
Sule made the call at the NUJ Press Centre in Lafia while on a congratulatory visit to felicitate the new leadership of the State Council of Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ, recently inaugurated.
He said his administration has recorded tremendous achievements in the last four years of his government due to the mutually beneficial synergy between the government and the members of the pen profession.
Governor Sule advocated an inclusive and people-oriented approach to ensuring that accountability, transparency, democracy, and Freedom of the Press have a place in the delivery of the government’s policies and programmes to the people.
Represented by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ibrahim Addra said “Governor Abdullahi Sule promised the new NUJ leadership in the state of his total support to succeed in all regards.”
He said the feat attained by the Alkali-led leadership was first-of-its-kind in delivering purposeful and focused leadership in the last three years.
The Governor called for a sustained synergy with members of the pen profession, tasking them to remain professional to duty and supportive to the government for the collective interest of the state.
Responding, the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Nigeria Union Journalists, Salihu Alkali appreciated the government for recognising the essential efforts of the union in the development of the society, expressing his support to the government “in line with the founding thrust and professional practice of journalism.”
He urged the Governor to be accountable and responsive to the people’s expectations at all times, stressing that he was ready for effective collaboration as he reminded the government of its pledge for the renovation of the NUJ secretariat and the provision of vehicles to ease the administration in the state.
Voice of Nigeria reports that the visit was in company of the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba. A letter of felicitations was presented to the NUJ Chairman, Salihu Alkali by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Addra and inspection of the secretariat.
