The Kogi state 7th assembly has been dissolved by governor Yahaya Bello, during its valedictory session on Monday, 5th June, after the 4years service to the state.
He declared; “...as it is provided in the section 105 subsection 1 of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended…now therefore I, Yahaya Bello the executive governor of Kogi State of Nigeria in exercise of power bestowed upon me and of all powers enabling me in that, I Hereby proclaim that the 7th assembly of the Kogi state house of assembly is hereby dissolved with immediate effect.
More tolerant
At the chambers, he extolled members for their immense support to the success of the assembly and his administration, urging them to be more tolerant, to lift up others around them and that he hopes to find them at his valedictory service.
The outgoing speaker, Mathew Kolawole commended the outgoing members for their dedication and service.
He declared that the House is ending with 24 members, it lost two members: John Abba, Musa Omiata of Ibaji and Iyabga East constituencies and two wives of members respectively.
Number of motions
According to him, the assembly passed a total number of 1451 resolutions, regular motions numbered and scheduled before the house 688, matters of urgent public importance 192, total number of motions considered by the house 888, resolutions agreed based on request from other arms of government 310, recommendations from committee report 920 from 320 reports.
The 7th assembly passed 52 bills: 32 executive bills, 20 private members bills, 37 were passed and assented to by the state government , two bills await assent and one bill was withheld, he stated.
The parliament lifted the suspension on Bello Abdullahi of Ajaokuta constituency, the member remaining out of the 9 earlier released and elected Usman Ibrahim as chief whip.
