The Governor of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria, Chief Francis Nwifuru, has charged youth Corps members to become employers of labour and contribute their quota to enhance the betterment of their host communities.

Governor Nwifuru, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and sports Development, Chief Richard Idike gave this advice during the occasion of closing ceremony of 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream ‘II’ corps members at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp of the state.

“I therefore enjoin you to contribute your quota to enhance the betterment of your host community in particular and Ebonyi State at large. Let me once again inform you that NYSC remains the hallmark of National Unity and Integration and you are urged to uphold and sustain it for the progress and prosperity of our dear country. Do also improve yourselves on the good trainings and skills you have been exposed to while on camp so as to become job creators rather than looking for elusive jobs.”

“During your Swearing-in ceremony, I encouraged you to take the camp activities very serious. I am pleased with the report of your disciplined conduct and enthusiastic participation in all the training activities.”

“You have proved that you have internalized the ideals of the NYSC scheme and are prepared to pursue their attainment wherever you may be posted to,” Idike said.

On her part, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Nasamu Olayinka said during the orientation course, corps members were taken through series of activities such as Para-Military Drills, Citizenship and Leadership trainings, Language studies, Lectures, Skill Acquisitions and Entraeprenual Development trainings.

“These were designed to prepare them for the service year, and having successfully completed this orientation course exercise, I am convinced that they are now fully equipped to go into the nooks and crannies of the state as agents of change and development,” Nasamu added.

Nasamu further expressed gratitude to the administration of the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Mr. Francis Nwifuru for his numerous supports and prompt attention to Corps urgent needs which has contributed to the overall success of the camping exercise.

The same gratitude went for Board Chairman and other Collaborating Agencies.
