The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru, has vowed to unite all segments of the State across party lines before the end of his administration.
Nwifuru made this promise during a post-inauguration thanksgiving service held at Saint Emmanuel Catholic Parish, Edukwachi, Izzi local government area of the State.
The governor urged the Ebonyi people to shun all forms of kindred cleavage in the State.
“Generally I am so delighted… I am so grateful to all Ebonyi people that believed in our cause. I want to promise that governance is different from politics; we will do everything possible to make you proud.
“I have to say this: you see this kindred thing, it has never worked for you and me; and since it never worked for you, don’t ever believe in it,” Nwifuru appealed.
He assured that his administration would do justice to all that concerns the welfare of Ebonyi citizens and to engage professionals in the task of consolidating the development of the State.
He persuaded the Ebonyi stakeholders to be patient with his administration in its drive to transform the State, assuring that he would get it right at the fullness of time.
“I want to assure you that though we can’t accommodate everybody, a good number of our faithful members will be accommodated in our administration.
“Experience is the teacher. Our Government will do justice to all the things that concern the welfare of the people of the State.
“We are getting into a very deep ocean now; politics is difficult, and everybody now wants to be the friend of the governor and former governor.
“We will get professionals to do the professional work and politicians to do political works,” he said.
The governor lauded the Emeritus Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, His Lordship, Michael Okoro, for his contributions to the spiritual growth of the people of the State.
Governor Nwifuru clarified that his decision to build a church was a fulfilment of the promise he made to God while appreciating his parents and immediate family for their support, especially during turbulent periods.
In a homily, Reverend Father Jude Agama commended the governor for their wisdom to thank God for His goodness in his family.
“When he was contesting the election, some people said ‘if he is coming to contest for Governor, does he not know that he is a small boy? …There are other bigger and elderly people’
“…My dear people of God, David was the youngest but at the end, he became the man after God’s own heart,” said Reverend Agama.
