Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has received hundreds of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defectors into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
Oyetola received the decampees in company of his wife, the Deputy Governor, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state including former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, former Osun State Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senate Spokesperson, Senator Ajibola Bashiru and the State Party Caretaker Chairman, Gboyega Famodun among others.
Welcoming the defectors, the Governor said APC was big enough and willing to take many more defectors who recognized excellence and were ready to key into the strategic development agenda of the state.
He urged all members and supporters of APC in the state to register and get their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), stressing that only through that medium would they be able to return the progressive government elected in the last dispensation for a second term in office.
Hon. Funmilayo Olasheinde Mustapha, a former PDP House of Assembly member who led the decampees from Ila Federal Constituency, comprising Ila, Boluwaduro and Ifedayo as well as other seven councils in the state, said she left PDP on account of its protracted crisis
Olasheinde noted that a party which could not fix its challenges would not be able to fix that of the State, adding that Oyetola’s achievements in just three years despite paucity of funds were good enough to attract even the harshest of critics.
The event was held at the Freedom Park in the state capital, Osogbo and witnessed the reunion of APC party faithfuls in the state.
