The Kano State Government in North West Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and strengthening traditional institutions in the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf committed Rano while presenting second-class staff of office to the new Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammadu Isa Umaru.

According to Governor Yusuf, traditional institutions play significant roles in society as the custodians of culture, values, and traditions.

“Our administration is committed to reviving the lost glory and sanctity of our revered traditional institutions across the state.”

Governor Yusuf said, restoring the dignity and influence of traditional institutions in the state remains a priority.

The Emir of Rano, Amb. Muhammad Umar while thanking the Governor for the honor, appealed to him to revoke the 5km road project in the area and reassign it to another contractor for speedy execution.

He said the current contractor handling the project cannot execute the project hence the need to reassign the project to another contractor to handle the project.

The second-class monarch also appealed to the Governor to find a lasting solution to the area’s age-long water scarcity, which he said past governments failed to address.

According to him, “The 5km road is very crucial to the people of Rano but unfortunately, the contractor handling the project cannot handle the project.

“We are also faced with water scarcity issue and past governments have made efforts to address it by tapping tap water from Tiga. But there is a nearby mountain that can provide and supply Rano and environs with the necessary required water supply,” Emir Umar stated.

He promised to be fair to and discharge his royal responsibility with the fear of Allah.

Also speaking, the Emir Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi while congratulating the Emir of Rano enjoyed him discharging his responsibility with a fair mind by carrying all people along.
