The National Stadium in Lagos state, southwest Nigeria now wears a new look as governor, Babajide Sanwo-0lu has directed that nothing should be left to chance in the strategic showcasing and hosting of Eko Nafest at the soccer destination.
From the lodging facilities of Nigeria Immigration Services to about five mini stadiums originally conceived for training and other sports games, the splash of colourful paints, artistic works display and renovations of toilets and recreation areas, signposts the signs of a great outing for Nigeria’s biggest cultural tourism extravaganza.
The Eko Nafest 2022, may break the over four years records of Governor Wike of Rivers state, who deployed the greatest incentives and enabling environment when it played host to the iconic Nafest in the year 2019.
The 36 states of the Federation are expected to storm the city of Lagos, from November 7th to 13th, next month to showcase and market their various tourism destinations, arts and crafts etc.
The Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC and President, of the Africa Region of World Craft Council ( NCC), Mr Segun Runsewe was in Lagos over the weekend, together with the Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile to finalize and make sure all is in place ahead of the festival coming next month.
Mr Segun Runsewe and Akinbile are also repositioning security for the festival to maintain Law and order during the period.
There will also be a special media tour, to officially unveil this refreshing transformation of the Sports city by GovernorBabajide Sanwo-0lu, and also its octopus capacity to provide revenue-yielding opportunities for outdoor events on sports, culture and tourism.
Nigeria’s Sports Minister Sunday Dare will headline the Media tour to what may be known as a Cultural festival city in the abandoned stadium in the heart of Lagos in Surulere.
