Governor Soludo Commissions New Educational Facilities in Anambra

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has officiated the commissioning of upgraded facilities at Community High School in Akwaeze, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.

Among the impressive additions are an administrative block, renovated classrooms, a modern kitchen, and a newly constructed refectory.

These facilities were built and donated by Chief Ikenna Okafor, Chairman of the Ide Ezeani Nzekwubuo Foundation, in celebration of the foundation’s 11th anniversary.

The day commenced with a holy mass at Saint Michael’s Parish in Akwaeze, led by the Catholic Bishop of the Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke.

The event also included a medical outreach that provided assistance to 179 individuals, comprising pupils, tertiary students, widows, and sickle cell support groups, with cash donations ranging from ₦30,000 to ₦500,000.

Additionally, Dr. Esther Okafor donated delivery kits for pregnant women in the Akwaeze community.

Governor Soludo, represented by Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, praised Chief Okafor’s philanthropic efforts, noting his significant contributions to education and community development through a robust Public-Private-Community-Partnership model.

He encouraged Okafor to persist in his efforts to enrich the local education system.

In his address, Chief Okafor stressed the transformative power of education, stating that “Education is the only gift you can give to someone that cannot be taken away.”

He revealed that he has invested over ₦650 million in the school’s infrastructure, equipment, and scholarship programs, directly benefiting many students.

Chief Okafor further committed to equipping Akwaeze Hospital with cutting-edge diagnostic tools and called for enhanced public-private collaboration, increased teacher recruitment, and greater encouragement for students to seize the opportunities available to them.

The event saw the presence of influential figures such as Senator Victor Umeh and Professor Charles Esimone, former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, both of whom commended Okafor for his efforts in transforming Community High School into a beacon of educational excellence.
