The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo and wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo were among the millions of Nigerians who congratulated Super Eagles on reaching the finals of the 2023 on Wednesday.

The tension-soaked match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa went into extra time after both teams played out a one all draw which saw the Super Eagles overcoming their eternal arch-rival through a penalty shoot-out of 4 -2.
Governor Soludo who was excited over the outcome of the match, described it as dramatic and scintillating.
The Governor commended the fighting spirit and tactical discipline of Super Eagles adding that the team has once again exhibited the resilience and never-die spirit of Nigerians
The Governor congratulated the team and urged them to go all out in the final to win the coveted trophy for the nation.
On her part the governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo,who sent the congratulatory message from her official social media handles, described the victory over South Africa as an important one for the homeland and national unity.
Mrs Soludo, who equally watched the semi final clash against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, noted that having conquered one of the favourites of the tournament, the Super Eagles now have a clear road to lifting the trophy for the fourth time in history.
She noted that Nigeria’s peerless performance at the tourney was worth the final spot and urged them to face the final game with the same zeal, determination, and focus as they did in subsequent games.
Nigeria beat South Africa on penalties after playing out a one-all draw in regulation and extra times of the semifinals.
It will be recalled that Governor Soludo and his wife have consistently supported the Nigerian national team right from the onset of the AFCON tournament till this very semi-final encounter with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa which ended in favour of the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles will now face Ivory Coast in Sunday’s finale.
