Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s political and historical landscape.”
In a condolence message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo extended heartfelt sympathies to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation. He praised the late former president for his lifelong dedication to public service, national security, and institutional reform.
“President Buhari’s imprint on Nigeria’s journey to democracy and development is indelible. From his early days in military service to his two-term civilian presidency, he exemplified resilience, discipline, and patriotism,” Governor Soludo stated.
The Governor recalled Buhari’s leadership during pivotal moments in Nigeria’s history and commended his efforts in anti-corruption, infrastructure development, and agricultural revitalisation. He noted that while opinions about Buhari’s legacy may vary, his impact on national discourse remains undeniable.
“As we mourn this loss, we also celebrate a life of service to fatherland. Nigeria has lost one of its most consequential leaders,” the statement concluded.
Governor Soludo prayed for the peaceful repose of the former leader’s soul and urged Nigerians to reflect on his contributions to nation-building.
