Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has refuted claims that he has anointed a successor for the 2027 governorship election, cautioning citizens against being misled by desperate politicians.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lafia, the state capital, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, clarified that Governor Sule has not endorsed any candidate as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the upcoming election in 2027.
According to Ahemba, the governor’s attention has been drawn to the activities of certain aspirants falsely claiming to have his endorsement. He expressed disappointment over the actions of individuals parading themselves as “government candidates,” warning that such claims are baseless.
“The Nasarawa State Government hereby debunks these claims in their entirety,” Ahemba stated.
Governor Sule reiterated that he still has over two years left in office to focus on delivering democratic dividends to the people of the state.
“I categorically deny the claims circulating in some quarters that the government has anointed a successor.
“The government has not made any pronouncement or taken any action indicating a preference for any individual as my successor,” he said.
He further emphasised that the choice of the next governor would be determined through a democratic process, not by personal endorsement.
He urged the public to disregard the misleading claims.
Governor Sule reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his mandate and serving the people of Nasarawa State to the best of his ability.
