Governor sympathises with families of boat mishap victims in Anambra State

The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has sympathised with the families of persons involved in a boat mishap that occurred in the State on Saturday.

Report said the ill-fated boat, which had about 85 persons on board, took off from Onukwu Bridge and was heading to Nkwo market, Ogbakuba in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State Southeast Nigeria, before it capsized at Umunankwo Ossomala Bridge.

“This development is shocking to the government and the good people of Anambra State. I sympathise with the families of the people involved,” Governor Soludo said.

He assured the people that the government would continue to do its best to reduce the negative effects of flood disasters in the state.

A statement from the Governor’s Spokesman, Christian Aburime said that “scores are still unaccounted for in the unfortunate incident, though the search is ongoing.”
