The Governor of Ebonyi state, South-east Nigeria, Engr. David Umahi, has declared interest in becoming Nigeria’s next President of the Senate of 10th Assembly and appealed all Nigerians to look towards the South-east for the position.
Governor Umahi made this appeal during his broadcast at the Executive Council Chambers in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital.
According to Umahi, the state worked hard for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the last elections.
“During the last presidential election, we worked very hard to deliver.
“At least, Ebonyi produced three (3) senators and three (3) representing for now.
“We have made a lot of sacrifices for the All Progressives Congress and should be considered for President of the Senate.
“The Speaker, House of Representatives should be zoned to North-west.
“I put myself forward for the zoning of President of Senate to South-east,” he appealed.
Umahi further urged all the public office holders, whether elected or appointed, to work hard for their people as time has come when
people only vote for a candidate who can deliver.
He called on all the candidates from different political parties who lost in the just concluded presidential election to drop litigation and join hands with the APC to build a better Nigeria.
