Gombe Governor Signs ₦369.9 Billion 2025 Bill

Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya has signed the ₦369.9 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill into law.

After the measure was successfully passed by the Gombe State House of Assembly, there was a signing ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Governor Yahaya characterised the 2025 budget as a strategic plan for the state’s social and economic advancement.

With an emphasis on areas that have a direct influence on the lives of Gombe State residents, Governor Yahaya stated that the appropriation bill reflects his administration’s dedication to expanding its development agenda.

Attributing the state’s accomplishments since 2019 to the cordial collaboration between the legislative and executive branches of government, he praised the Gombe State House of Assembly for passing the measure so quickly.

“I want to sincerely thank the honorable members of the House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the bill.

“Your cooperation and support since we came on board have been truly commendable.

“Over the years, we have worked harmoniously, and this partnership has significantly benefited the good people of Gombe State,” Governor Yahaya said.

He emphasised that the results were the consequence of teamwork rather than individual efforts and credited this synergy for the state’s recent honours in security, health, and other areas.

To significantly improve the standard of living for Gombe’s citizens, the governor emphasised the House of Assembly’s decision to raise sectoral allocations, especially in healthcare and social services.

“We are committed to ensuring that these resources are effectively utilized for the greater good of our people,” Governor Yahaya affirmed.

Future Projects

The governor expressed confidence in receiving an outstanding rating and stated plans to issue the 2024 budget performance report in January 2025.

Additionally, he disclosed that the People with Special Needs Commission would be established by the government in 2025.

To guarantee that individuals with special needs are completely integrated into society, the commission will concentrate on their welfare and integration.

In each of the state’s senatorial districts, Governor Yahaya revealed intentions to construct a Special School for People with Special Needs.

He went on to say that representatives chosen from the special needs community will oversee the schools. He also gave the State Universal Basic Education Board instructions to attend to the schools’ needs to guarantee their efficient operation.

Legislative Support

Mr. Abubakar Luggerewo, the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, gave an explanation for the decision to raise the budget from the 320.1 billion that Governor Yahaya had first suggested to 369.9 billion.

“We made these adjustments because we strongly believe that the areas we have prioritised will significantly enhance the quality of life for our citizens.

“We commend His Excellency, the Governor, for placing a strong emphasis on capital expenditure, which accounts for 69% of the total budget.

“This focus is a deliberate effort to drive infrastructure development and long-term growth,” the Speaker said.

According to him, the budget is among the best in the nation and demonstrates tenacity, foresight, and dedication to advancement.
