Governors AbdulRazaq, Ododo seek dualization of Ilorin-Lokoja expressway

The Kwara State Governor and Chairman, Nigeria Governor’s Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in company of his Kogi State Counterpart, Ahmed Usman Ododo, have visited the Minister of Works , Engr. David Umahi in his office in Abuja.
During the official visit, the duo made a strong pitch on behalf of the people of Kwara and Kogi States for the dualization of the Ilorin-Lokoja expressway via Omu Aran and Kabba.
The Kwara State Governor also appealed to the Minister for the immediate construction of two flyovers at Oko-Olowo Junction and Shao Junction, both on the Ilorin -Jebba Expressway.
According to him, the appeal became necessary to save lives at these important axis of the road.
The Member, Federal House of Reps, representing (Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency), Dr. Ahmad Yinka Aluko, who also joined the governor’s delegation, had raised a motion in the House of Representatives on these two critical junctions and a need for the Federal Government to urgently address the issue.
“The Ohan Bridge in Moro; Share to Patigi Road; and Wawa, Kaiama, to Kishi Road also featured in our discussion with the Honourable Minister, and we truly appreciate the warm reception that Umahi accorded us,” Governor AbdulRazaq added.
The governor said that they look forward to beautiful outcomes from the important engagement and commended the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitments to equitable infrastructural and socioeconomic development in every part of the country.
Meanwhile, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Alhaji Hameed Adio, has described plans by Governor AbdulRazaq as a good step in the right direction.
According to him, the governor’s plan when fully executed will be a great relief especially the long overdue dualization of the Ilorin-Lokoja expressway via Omu-Aran and Kabba.
He disclosed that commuters on that road will not forget in a hurry the harrowing experience they go through on a daily basis due to its very deplorable condition which has in no small measure stunted economic activities in that axis.
“This is apart from forcing our people to go through Ekiti State before accessing Abuja…That the construction of flyover bridges which will mitigate such sad occurrences has been factored into this very important discussion with the Honourable Minister of Works is not only desirable but also highly commendable,” he added.
Hameed Adio also stressed that equally worthy of being commended and appreciated is Dr Ahmad Yinka Esho representing the good people of Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives for his remarkable passion on the floor of the House, shortly after one of such terrible accidents occurred on that expressway.
