The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.
The tanker explosion in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State occurred on Tuesday morning, October 21, 2025, around 11:00 a.m. along the Bida–Agaie Road, where media reports indicate that 38 persons lost their lives.
In a statement signed by the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the NGF extended its condolences to the government and people of Niger State, particularly the families of the victims and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
“Our sympathies are with every family affected by this unfortunate incident. We commend all emergency responders for their swift humanitarian intervention,” the statement reads.
Governor AbdulRazaq further emphasized the need for heightened safety measures in the handling, storage, and transportation of combustible materials to prevent similar tragedies.
“This disaster once again underscores the importance of strict adherence to safety regulations in all aspects of our daily lives,” he added
