The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for its coordinated efforts with fiscal authorities, stressing the need for sustained collaboration to safeguard economic growth and ensure financial stability across the states.

This was in a communiqué issued after the Forum’s meeting in Abuja, signed by its Chairman, and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The Forum, in the statement, said it received a detailed briefing from the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, represented by the Deputy Governor in charge of Economic Policy, Dr Muhammad Sani Abdullahi.

The presentation focused on the CBN’s ongoing stabilisation measures aimed at restoring price stability and reinforcing public confidence in the economy.

It outlined key policy actions, including monetary tightening, the unification of exchange rate windows, the recapitalisation of banks, measures designed to tackle inflation, improve liquidity management, and promote macroeconomic stability.

The Governors also received a presentation from the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, who briefed them on emerging security challenges and intelligence-led strategies to enhance coordination at the state level.

His address covered counter-terrorism efforts, the management of inter-communal conflicts, and the security implications of economic pressures and political transitions.

Expressing appreciation to the DSS for its proactive engagement, the Forum reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening intelligence sharing and deepening cooperation with federal security agencies to sustain peace and security nationwide.

The communiqué further noted that the Reserved Seats for Women Bill (HB 1349) is scheduled for voting between 4 and 6 November 2025.

The proposed legislation seeks to amend the 1999 Constitution to create special constituencies exclusively for women in both the National and State Assemblies as a temporary measure to enhance gender representation in governance.

Governors were encouraged to mobilise support from their respective Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, and State Assemblies to ensure the Bill’s passage—underscoring Nigeria’s dedication to fairness, inclusion, and equitable governance.

The NGF meeting also deliberated on critical national issues and outlined collective strategies to strengthen governance, economic management, and sustainable development across the country.
