Governor’s Wife Advocates Full Incorporation of Healthy Farming

The wife of the governor, Anambra State , South-Eastern, Nigeria, Mrs. Nonye Soludo has collaborated with Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria, UBWFAN, for full incorporation of healthy living in farming and food consumption.
She also renewed her calls for regulated intake of salt, considering the current high mortality cases and sicknesses resulting from over-consumption of sodium-based foods.
Mrs Soludo stated this in Awka while interfacing and collaborating with business women and female farmers under the umbrella of the Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria, UBWFAN
Addressing the women, Mrs Soludo pointed to recent statistics by the World Health Organization, WHO, that over two million deaths occur annually due to salt related sicknesses.
She noted that while salt is an important ingredient for food, consuming it more than the recommended unit leads to serious health problems.
While asking the women to alway be careful about what they consume, the governor’s wife urged them to see healthy living as an important factor to life, without which the body becomes deteriorated.
She also talked about the importance of organic agriculture and its impact on human and environmental health and urged the female farmers to see the practice as not only safe but healthy.
The governor’s wife further disclosed facts about her healthy living project and urged the women to take the lead in the campaign by not only living it out but, most importantly, by impacting the ideas on their immediate society. She encouraged them as the Chief Executive Officer of Nonye Healthy Living NGO, to value the partnership and help their families and the nation to eat and live healthy.
Earlier in her address, the National President of the association, Mrs Nkiru Nwagbo, applauded the governor’s wife for leading a campaign of change in trying to make healthy living a household norm in Anambra State.
The women had organized a one-day programme covering road walks, physical exercise, medical checks, and health talks.
Present at the event were the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor, a former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Professor Stella Okunna, the Anambra State Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, among others.
