Governor’s Wife Collaborates With Development Partners On Humanitarian Services In Ebonyi

The Wife of Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru has promised a conducive environment for development partners to strive in the state.
Mrs Nwifuru, stated this when the United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA) paid her a courtesy visit in Abakaliki, the State Capital in Southeast Nigeria.
She expressed her readiness to work with UNFPA in eradicating human trafficking, gender-based violence, harmful practices against vulnerable persons in the society and to promote family planning.
She commended the Development partners for their interventions in the reduction of social vices in society.
The UNFPA Programme Coordinator, Mr. Arasu Jambuke-Swaran said; “The agency would use its technical resources to partner with her projects, billed to better the lots of the Ebonyi people.”
Jambuke-Swaran who is also the Head of Office, Cross River State, disclosed that the rate of Gender-Based Violence cases was over 50% high and requested a good working relationship to reduce the menace.
The UNFPA Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV Analyst, Mr. Oke Nteigbanam promised to support her projects to ensure zero tolerance for harmful practices, maternal mortality, GBV, and family planning.
The courtesy call also had the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mrs Chinwe Okah, and some staff of the ministry.
