Governor’s Wife Empowers Women With Business Grants in Anambra

Wife of Anambra State governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo has empowered 30 women with business grants during the launch of Solution House -2-Women Initiative at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, the state capital.

Mrs Soludo who stated that Solution House-2-House Women Initiative is a human capital empowerment model that targets low-income families and women who are into small businesses, gave assurance that her husband’s development vision for the state is backed by pure commitment and passionate will to serve.

Addressing the women, the governor’s wife emphasised that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is very passionate about a thriving Anambra State, noting that each of his policies is designed to offer the best results.

Development stories

She pointed out that massive development has happened within two years of the current administration and asked the women to take the development stories to their individual communities.

Mrs Soludo further commended the idea of Solution House-2-House Women Initiative, stressing that apart from the economic benefits that it offers to women, it is also an avenue for political restructuring.

“The project also mobilizes women to carry development messages of the current administration down to the grassroots.”she stated.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, said that the current administration understands the importance of women participation in governance, and has opened up multiple channels that equip women with the right skills and opportunity to succeed and add to the economic growth of the state.

In his speech, the Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, said that APGA’s grand structure is driven by door-to-door participation and complete inclusion, noting that each group represents the party’s collective idea of success which it is strategically pursuing.

In her address, the Anambra State APGA Woman Leader, Mrs Esther Onyekesi, said that the Solution House-2-House Women Initiative is designed to reach the grassroots with great impacts, with women leading the campaign of goodwill.

She said that the initiative would also empower women for self-sufficiency and economic emancipation, with thirty women from across the twenty-one local government areas to be a support grant to fifty thousand naira each to help their small scale businesses.

The Chairman of the event and APGA Vice Chairman, Anambra Central, Chief Nduka Okoye, in his speech, said that launch of the initiative is the first its kind, and replicates the leadership excellence of the governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who is committed to driving human capital empowerment and economic development.

Guest speakers for the event, Mrs Patricia Igwebuike, who is the Commissioner for Transport, Anambra State, and Ms. Chinwe Okoli, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, talked about women taking active space in politics and leading the political decisions that affect them, and added the need for the women folk to leverage collaborative opportunities that empower them to succeed.

The governor’s wife later led the ceremonial presentation of cash support to the thirty beneficiaries.
