Greece closes its airspace for Russian airlines
Greece on Monday closed its airspace for all Russian aircraft in line with a European Union decision, according to the authority.
The country’s civil aviation authority said, only humanitarian and emergency flights will be allowed under a notice issued by the Greek authority. The notice will apply for three months.
Ursula von der Leyen announced, the entire EU airspace would be shut to Russian flights, as part of a raft of new sanctions unveiled.
“We’re proposing a prohibition on all Russian-owned, Russian-registered, and Russian-controlled aircraft.
“These aircraft will no more be able to land in, take off, or overfly the territory of the European Union.”
She added that the restrictions will include private jets of Russian oligarchs.
