Green Africa Airways, Nigeria’s start-up airline, welcomes first aircraft

Green Africa Airways Ltd, a Nigerian start-up airline, based in Lagos, Nigeria over the weekend received its first aircraft at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, South-west Nigeria.

 

The new low-cost carrier, founded on 15 June, 2015 by Babawande Afolabi, who serves as the chief executive officer, is yet to commence flights as of 2021.

 

With the Nigerian air travel market as its target, operations were originally planned to start in 2019, but have since been delayed.

 

@greenafrica announced excitedly via Twitter the arrival of its first aircraft:

“We have a grand welcome to Green Africa’s first aircraft as it touched down in Lagos, Nigeria today.

“One more milestone and we are super excited about this.

“How ready are you to #goGreen2021?”

“This is a great day for all of us at Green Africa and the beginning of what we all hope is a new era in Nigerian aviation. ACIA Aero Leasing has been a very supportive partner and we are proud of this new relationship,” Babawande Afolabi, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Green Africa, said via a statement.

 

The arrival of the turboprop marks the first of the three aircraft bound for the airline. These are currently leased from ACIA Aero Leasing.
