A coalition of Community-Based Organisations in Kano State North-west Nigeria has commended the outcome of the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly election, acknowledging rating the exercise as free, fair, and credible.
The Convener of the coalition, Gadafi Mujib state this in a media briefing held in Kano.
He said the election was made more credible with the introduction and use of the new technological devices.
“We stand before you to pronounce our Group’s salute to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and acceptance of the outcome of the just concluded elections, which has been acknowledged as free, fair, and credible by all with the introduction of new technological devices,” he said.
Mujib condemned the opposition parties for rejecting the outcomes of the election and the use of utterances capable of inciting violence in society.
He urged them to seek democratic ways to resolve their grievances through the courts.
“We urge all grievances to be democratically resolved in the courts and not through making utterances capable of inciting crimes.
“In particular, we condemn former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his letter in which he appeared to insinuate crisis and break down of law and order,” Mujib stressed.
The group congratulated the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, urging him to do his utmost best and to live up to the expectations of the people by keeping to his campaign promises.
“We call on all Nigerians to unite behind the new leaders, so that we may all benefit from the democratic dividends,” he said.
The group however, urged the Electoral body to improve in training of Ad-hoc personnel engaged for elections.
It also enjoined security operatives to maintain neutrality of being non-partisan and continue to enforce the directives of the law. The group admonished political parties to be engaging sound literate persons as a party agent as well as calling on citizens to be very vigilant and report any suspicious actions to authorities.
