The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG) has called on the presidential candidates and their supporters to abide by the agreement they signed under the peace accord spear-headed by the former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar .
The group said adhering to the peace agreement would help in sustaining the nation’s democracy and promote peace.
The body in a statement signed by its national coordinator, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi described it as an unfortunate allegations of interruption of election results collation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by some interested parties at the national collation centre, Abuja.
It advised anyone or group with genuine complaints about elections results to approach the courts of law.
While commending INEC for doing a good job, the group called on security agencies to guard against further disruption of results collation at the national collation centre, Abuja.
“Let no loser shift the battle-field from polling units to collation centre. Reports that an opposition party and their collaborators are working on using court order to stop the declaration process shows how desperate some contestants are,” it added.
The group called on INEC to declare the balance of the entire results, adding that: “No individual or group interest is greater than that of the entire citizens of this country”.
