The Nigerian electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security operatives in the country have jointly been charged to ensure to be apolitical and nonpartisan and sincere in the coming 2023 general elections.

This charge was given by the President of a foremost Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the African Grassroots  Women Empowerment  Foundation, Mrs Ramata Gbadamosi.

According to her, it is imperative for the electoral body as well as the security operatives to remain nonpartisan and sincere by not showing a preference for any political party or any politician in order to get a free and credible election.

Also, the organization urged the electorate particularly the youth not to allow themselves to be used as destructive elements but rather make use of their youthful energy for progressive efforts.

The President of the organization also charged the citizens to try to make the right choices by voting for credible candidates saying that, “Nigerians should this time around, vote for candidates or parties that genuinely love the people and not greedy politicians”.

Gbadamosi enjoined candidates to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship by taking the outcome of the election in good faith, charging the winners to put in their best in their various elective offices and that losers should take the outcome of the election in good faith while winners should not make it a winner takes all affairs.

“Winners of the National Assembly election should not make the floor of the two Chambers a place of leisure or for retirement, rather a place to make laws for the benefit of the poor Nigerian masses.” the President noted.

The head of the NGO said that “Our incoming leaders should embark on meaningful projects that would within a short term revive our moribund industries , create employment opportunities and reduce to the barest minimum the insecurity challenges we are currently facing in Nigeria.

“More concentration and funds should be invested in the crucial sectors of the economy to avoid our professionals from absconding to developed countries at the detriment of our growing economy.”

The African Grassroots Women Empowerment  Foundation is working for women, orphans, children and widows at the grassroots.
