The Director-General of the Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT), Pastor Olumide Obadele, has highlighted key achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to support the continuity of ongoing reforms beyond 2027.
Speaking at a world Press Conference at the NUJ FCT Council in Abuja, Obadele said the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda had delivered measurable progress across critical sectors, including the economy, education, infrastructure and Nigeria’s international image.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not mere rhetoric; it is a practical roadmap that has already begun to reposition Nigeria’s economy, expand access to education and restore confidence in government,” he said.
He noted that the removal of the fuel subsidy in May 2023 marked a turning point in Nigeria’s economic recovery, freeing up resources for development across the three tiers of government. He added that the floating of the naira by the Central Bank of Nigeria had helped to bridge the gap between official and parallel market rates, thereby improving economic stability.
On education, Obadele described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a major intervention that has expanded access to tertiary education. According to him, over N206 billion has been disbursed to more than 1.16 million students since the scheme began in 2024, covering both tuition and upkeep.
In the area of infrastructure, he cited ongoing legacy projects such as the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Trans-Saharan Highway and the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road. He stated that the projects aim to improve national integration and create economic opportunities throughout the nation.
Obadele also pointed to improvements in Nigeria’s global standing, noting that recent reforms in the passport system had contributed to the country’s rise in the Henley Passport Index rankings. He said the development reflects growing international confidence in Nigeria.
He further referenced President Tinubu’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom as an indication of strengthened diplomatic relations and increased global engagement.
The group commended the Minister of the Interior, Dr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his role in supporting reforms and mobilising grassroots backing for government initiatives.
“We urge Nigerians to support the continuity of these reforms beyond 2027, as sustained policies and collective commitment are essential to building a more prosperous and globally respected nation,” he added.
Obadele called on Nigerians to remain supportive of the administration’s policies and to actively participate in the democratic process as the 2027 general elections approach.
He emphasised that sustained collaboration between the government and its citizens is essential to building a more stable and prosperous Nigeria.
