A Non-Governmental Organisation, Sister’s Keeper Foundation, has expressed its determination to support students in harnessing their potential by introducing initiatives to empower youth and promote education in Nigeria.

Founder of “Sister’s Keeper Foundation, Mrs. Makosi Musambasi, a Zimbabwean lady,  stated this while delivering scholarships to some deserving students at Junior Secondary School Gosa in Abuja, the Nation’s capital.

Mrs. Musambasi explained that “at a special ceremony to mark the 2024 Children’s Day celebration held at the school, representatives of the Sister’s Keeper Foundation handed over scholarships to 14 students who have demonstrated academic excellence and financial needs, these scholarships will cover tuition fees, ensuring that these bright young minds can continue their education without the burden of financial constraints,” Mrs. Makosi Musambasi said

The group also provided textbooks and sanitary pads to some students.

In addition to the scholarships, the Foundation has donated a wide range of textbooks of various subjects to the students, to enhance their learning experience, providing them with the resources they need to excel academically. Recognizing the importance of menstrual health and hygiene, the Sister’s Keeper Foundation has also renovated some toilets in the School, and provided sanitary pads to promote their health and education.”

In his remarks, the Vice Principle Academy of the School, Mr. Golar Gofwan, explained some of the criteria followed in awarding the beneficiary students by Sister’s Keeper Foundation.

When Mrs. Makosi Musambasi came to Nigeria from Zimbabwe with the noble project, she expressed her desire to assist especially girls who are having challenges… she selected fourteen of them that she has been paying their school fees. From the beginning when she came, it was a random selection, but at the moment she is trying to look at the best students,” Mr. Gofwan stated.

Some of the beneficiaries, Solomon Precious and Ishaq Ogirima from JSS 2 Classes expressed their gratitude to the Foundation for awarding them the scholarship to support their education.

The Sister’s Keeper Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to amongst others, empowering women and children through education, health, and community development initiative. The foundation also supports breast cancer advocacy.
