Group Trains And Empowers Widows In Anambra State

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo has charged women to go back to the drawing board and do more in other to make Anambra a livable and prosperous homeland.

She made this statement during an empowerment program in Nnewi organized by Remember the Widows Initiative headed by Ukpor ward 1 counselor Hon. Ifeoma Illikanu-Dike.

Hon Obinabo who spoke through the Special Assistant to the governor on Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Blessing Austin-Nweke reminded the women of their primary objective which is to be Agents of Change.

The women and social welfare boss, therefore charged the women to start with their immediate family as that will help in bringing peace to their communities.

Hon. Obinabo also called on them to at all times obey government policies in their various homes in order to bring stability to the state.

In his speech, the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi South council area, Hon. Ikenna Aniagboso encouraged the women to always support their leaders even as he lauded the Ukpor ward 1 counselor initiative.

Appreciation

Appreciating her beneficiaries, the Counselor, Ukpor Ward 1 Mrs. Illikanu-Dike noted that the Initiative which is her pet project is targeted at reaching out to all the indigent Widows in Ukpor and beyond.

The counselor also explained that the program will be done set by set in order to accommodate everyone whose names were on the list thereby alleviating the plights of the widows in her immediate environment.

’’The Reminder The Widows Initiative’’ is an empowerment initiative targeted at equipping indigent widows in the Nnewi community by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide for their families. The empowerment is targeted at benefiting at least 100 widows in each batch.

 

Highlight of the program is the unveiling of the materials and the distribution of the same to the women.
