Guinea Books Ticket For AFCON Tournament in Cameroon

Guinea are the sixth team to qualify for Cameroon 2021 outside the host nation after its 1-0 defeat to Mali.

The six qualified countries include; Algeria, Senegal, Mali, Tunisia, Burkina Faso and Guinea, together with Cameroon.

Runners-up in 1976, the Syli Nationale have not gone beyond the quarterfinals since then. They were kicked out at that stage four times – 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2015. In Egypt 2019, Guinea exited in the Round of 16.

Cameroon 2021 will be their 13th time in the competition.

Guinea can still win their group. That is if they beat hosts Namibia on Sunday.

Group A: Guinea 1-0 Mali (first leg 2-2)

Mali, who have now completed their group matches, will then finish second. Their last match against Chad was awarded to them following the disqualification of the latter.
