Hajj 2021: NDLEA calls for drug sensitization for intending pilgrims

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has called on the National Hajj Commission on sensitization of Intending Pilgrims to Saudi Arabia to avoid engaging in drug related issues during the 2021 hajj operations.
The NDLEA Commander in Niger state,North central Nigeria, Haruna Kwetishe mentioned this during a visit to the state pilgrims welfare Board in Minna the Niger State Capital.
The NDLEA Commander further appealed to government officials to ensure that those going on pilgrimage were people of proven integrity, assured that officers of the agency will be available at all the camps across the country to screen intending pilgrims and to fish out bad ones among them.
Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai, The Executive Secretary of the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Who appreciated the visit by the NDLEA Officials, mentioned that none of the pilgrims from the state have ever been involved in trafficking of drugs to the Holy Land.
The executive Secretary who said the Niger state Pilgrims board is ready to partner with NDLEA on pilgrims activities,mentioned that his agency has already trained its Staff on various activities lined up including drugs related issues, so as to have a hitch free 2021 Hajj operations.
The hajj exercise to Saudi Arabia is an annual Islamic event amongst the Muslims the world over, The 2021 hajj exercise is expected to commence in the month of July 2021.
