The Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced an initial deposit of N8.4 million for the 2025/1446 Hajj fare for intending pilgrims from the state.
The announcement follows the directive from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which set N8.4 million as the initial deposit for the 2025 pilgrimage.
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, it revealed that 4,503 seats have been allocated to the state for the 2025 Hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary noted that intending pilgrims could make arrangements with their respective Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs) to pay the deposit in installments.
“This initiative is designed to ease the financial burden of the pilgrims and enable more individuals to fulfill their religious obligations.”
The statement also emphasized the importance of possessing an e-passport before registration. This requirement is part of the Board’s shift from the traditional bank draft system to an e-transaction system aimed at streamlining the registration process.
Sheikh Aliyu explained that intending pilgrims could conveniently transfer funds from their homes or deposit the money directly at designated banks.
“Payments should be narrated using the e-passport number, while the teller serves as evidence of payment, which must be presented to the APWOs.”
In addition, the Board announced plans to thoroughly evaluate the health status of all intending pilgrims, starting from the local government level. This measure aims to ensure the eligibility of pilgrims and prioritize their well-being.
To assist pilgrims, the Board will provide detailed guidelines and support throughout the payment and preparation process.
The initiative is designed to ensure that every intending pilgrim is well-informed and prepared for the spiritual journey.
