The Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq has joined millions of Muslims worldwide to perform the 2025 lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Mecca City , in the holy kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mecca, in western Saudi Arabia, is Islam’s holiest city and the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad, a city where only Muslims are allowed to enter.

In a statement he personally signed, Governor AbdulRazaq disclosed that “Very early today, I performed the lesser Hajj (Umrah) on the first night of the last 10 days of Ramadan 1446 AH, during which we are encouraged to search for the night of majesty” (laylatul-qadr).

“As millions gather to worship God and circumambulate the blessed and sacred House of God, Ka’abah, I pray to God to answer our prayers, grant us the blessings of these days, bless our country, ease our affairs, and guide us aright at all times.”

“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu annaa! — Allaah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive us” the governor prayed further.”

The Lesser Hajj (Umrah) is a highly valued act of worship for Muslims offering an opportunity for spiritual renewal and seeking forgiveness.

It is a journey of purification, a cleansing of the soul, and a renewal of faith.

Lesser Hajj is also a voluntary pilgrimage to Mecca that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike the obligatory Hajj, which has specific dates.
