Harness Technology to Empower Youths – Deputy Speaker urges ACCI

The Deputy Speaker of the Nigeian House of Representatives, Mr Benjamin Kalu has called on the leadership of the Abuja Chamber Commerce and Industry, ACCI to create a chamber that would contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

The deputy speaker also urged the chamber to prioritise initiatives that promotes the ability to harness the power of technology and empower the youths who are key drivers of the economy.

Mr Kalu made the call at the inauguration of Dr Emeka Obegulu as the 12th president of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Accoring to him, “This message also goes to other Chambers of Commerce in the states of the federation especially the south east, draw up programmes that would include these young ones who are agitating one thing or the other, programmes that would give them that sense of inclusion and teach them skills, expose them to opportunities that would make them have more confidence in themselves to use thier brains.

“We have no doubt that Dr Obegolu will lead with integrity, he will lead with wisdom and a strong commitment with the values of the chamber.”

Mr Kalu pledged the support of the House of Representatives to assist the chamber grow the country’s economy.

” I wish to inform you that the House of Representatives will always be there through our various committees of Commerce and Industry to support your initatives.

“Bring up the laws that you think needs legislative interventions to make the life of businesses in Nigeria easier, its time for better business opportunities and business environment in Nigeria,” he said.

The President of ACCI, Dr Emeka Obegolu while giving his inaugural speech said under his administration, the chamber would strive to positively influence policy formulation for the advancement of the organized private sector and overall prosperity of the nation.

“To achieve these objectives, my presidency wil prioritise collaboration with thr government and other stakeholders and capacity building with the ACCI team, enhancing management process for improved efficiency and productivity.

“We will fortify our various trade groups, ensuring a broader impact across economic sectors.”
