Haske Football Academy To Be Established in Nasarawa State

A philanthropist, Mr Elisha Ebuga- Yohanna, has promise to established a football academy in Obi local government Area of Nasarawa State.

Mr. Ebuga- Yohanna, tittle Haske Obi stated this after the finals of the First Edition of Haske Obi Peace and Unity Football competition held in Obi LGA of the state.

He said he has seen the passion and talent in the youth, therefore establishing an academy would go a long way to help the youth show case their hidden talents for the development of the society and the country at large.

Away from the after match, Abaagu United Football Club has emerged champions of the First Edition of Haske Obi Peace and Unity Football Competition after defeating Obi United Football Club 2-1 in the finals.

The Finals between both Teams was played at the Obi South Primary School Playing Field in Obi Local Government Area.

The final encounter which attracted many Football lovers to the stadium had both teams displayed their skills to the admiration of their supporters with Samuel Emmanuel scoring the opening goal in the 28th minutes for Abaagu United as fans went into jubilation.

On Resumption into the second half, Zulfau Hamza got the equalising goal for Obi United in the 51 minutes to make it One all but Esla Abimiku scored the decisive goal in the 69th minutes for Abaagu United to win the Cup after the 90th minutes.

Speaking to Sport Journalists after the encounter, the Osuko of Obi, Alhaji Aliyu Dangiwa Ogiri Irume commended the Haske Obi, Elisha Ebuga Yohanna for organizing the tournament to foster peace and unity among different people in the area.

Organiser of the Tournament, Mr Elisha Ebuga- Yohanna, maintained that the purpose of the competition is to empower the youth through participating in sporting activities.

Mr Yohanna who appreciated Obi Traditional Council, Coaches, Players, and fans for their contribution to the success of the tournament promised to establish a Football Academy in the state.

16 Teams participated in the competition with Thunder Football Club of Agyragu grabbing the third position.

Highpoint of the event was presentation of medals and Trophy to the winners of the Tournament and other outstanding players.
