The permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, Dr Chris Achi has advised people to maintain cleaniness at all times to avoid outbreak of communicable diseases like colera and other related diseases.

Dr Achi gave the advice while addressing Journalists in Abakaliki the State capital on the best way to go about maintaining good health in the Society.
He said Cleaniness would safe you a lot of health challenges if maintained regularly.
“Raining season has started and every season comes with its own challenges, people who don’t have access to portable drinking water would resort to using of dirty water as source of livelihoods, to this effect, the dirty contains micro organisms that could cause dangerous diseases like colera and other related diseases“. Dr Achi said.
Achi urged members of public who do not have access to portable drinking water to always boil their water up to 100 degrees centigrade, allow it to cool, then filter it and drink.
“In a situation where after boiling and filtering and the water still have color or odor, contact expert from Ministry of water resource to assist you in the treatment of the water, they have some chemicals that can remove the odor and color“. Achi added.
Moreso, he urged people to ensure that the container of their water is clean at all times.
On Mosquito Bites
The experts urged the public to use their insecticide Mosquito treated net to reduce the transmission of malaria parasite to human.
He therefore advocated for medical check-up anytime they notice abnormalities in your health.
Consequently, A laboratory expert, Scientist Simeon Ituma called on people to avoid bushes around their homes as it contributes much in breeding of Mosquito.
