Health Groups Push Polio Eradication In Sokoto

The Community of Practice (CoP), in collaboration with the African Health Budget Network (AHBN), has taken its advocacy campaign to Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State to strengthen collaboration and ensure the total eradication of the poliovirus in the state.

The visit aimed to address the issue of Zero Dose children across various communities in Wamakko LGA.

In his remarks during the visit, the AHBN Focal person in Sokoto, Umar Garba Khadi, called on the local government council to work tirelessly with all relevant stakeholders to sure children received vaccines in the area.

He also presented the copie of scorecard and DIM findings as well as implementation research findings as an advocacy package to the Chairman .

Umar Garba Khadi expressed confidence that the scorecard would go a long way in ensuring total eradication of polio virus through collective effort of all stakeholders towards maintaining no single child is exempted from the polio exercise.

He thanked the Chairman for hosting them and assured him the community would continue to assist the council for the overall health benefits of the state.

Responding, the Wamakko local government Chairman, Alhaji Umar Dundaye, promised to work tirelessly to achieve the set goals.

He further promised to go through all the documents presented to him with the Director Primary Health Care for smooth implementation.

He commended the CoP ZDLH in the state for comings with the scorecard and two findings.
